DEPRAVED John MacNeil, 48, and his assistant Joseph Prunty, 59, have been jailed for sexually abusing young boys in their scout troop on Glasgow's South Side.

A SCOUT leader and his assistant have been jailed for sexually abusing young boys.
John MacNeil, 48 and Joseph Prunty, 59, were part of the scout group at the same time in the 90s.
A police probe into terminally ill MacNeil led to Prunty’s offences also being revealed by victims.
Both appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court and pled guilty to charges relating to the same scout troop on the south side of the city.
One of the victims was abused by both men on separate occasions.

Pervert MacNeil, from Ibrox, Glasgow, pled guilty to a string of eight charges of using lewd and libidinous practices and behaviour towards eight boys between 1996 and 2010.
He also admitted a charge of making indecent images of children between June and December 2010.
Sheriff Bill Totten said there was “no alternative” sentence available and jailed for 15 months with an extended sentence of 21 months after his release.

Several of MacNeil’s victims said in a statement: “We’re disappointed with what we feel is a lenient
sentence for a man that deliberately worked his way in positions of trust, only to abuse that position and the young people he worked with.

“We’re glad he has finally been brought to justice after a long 18 months of court adjournments.
MacNeil was jailed on April 13. Prunty was caged at a hearing in February.
